The Elected Steering Committee
An introduction to the leadership of the Stagiaire Association

What is the steering committee

The European Parliament Stagiaire Association is led by an elected steering committee. The steering committee is officially composed of 1 President, 1 Vice-President, 1 Secretary General, 1 Head of Social events and Sports, 1 Head of Communication and 1 Editor of EPSA online medium. The committee is responsible for organising the different working groups (see our section: The Working Groups for more information) that are vital to the functioning of the Association. Further, the Committee acts in the capacity of the Plenary during the weeks when the Plenary does not meet. In this capacity, the committee engages on behalf of stagiaires.

How does the committee operate?

The steering committee acts as a college, decisions are taken by consensus. The committee meets on a very informal basis though they try to organise meetings whenever possible. Each individual in the committee is responsible for a specific working group and usually topics that are brought to the association's attention are handled by the steering committee member whose tasks match most closely with the topic.

Who else works on the committee?

The committee is supported in its tasks by a group of party and secretariat delegates. These delegates are identified individuals with whom stagiaires from the political party can go to with questions or ideas. The delegates are either approached by the steering committee or propose themselves to the steering committee in this capacity... these nominations are then approved by the plenary.

Who currently is on the steering committee?
The last elections of the steering committee took place in March 2010.
